She is most famous for her role as man-eater Samantha Jones in the iconic TV series Sex and the City, so it’s perhaps no surprise that actress Kim Cattrall is a fan of steamy novel Fifty Shades of Grey.
The 55-year-old British born actress praises E.L James’s popular book for spicing up the lives of older women in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph magazine.
‘…I thoroughly enjoyed the book,’ she says. ‘It’s fun – whatever turns you on. All these women of a certain age are finally having fun and what’s wrong with that? We’re all adults.’
The actress is rumoured to be in the running to play Elena, a Mrs Robinson-style character who seduces leading man Christian, in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.
However she denies being offered the role, saying ‘No one has told me about that.’
Kim joins a list of actresses who have been linked to the movie, including Emma Roberts and Lucy Hale who are reportedly two of the favourites to play the lead role of Ana.
The trilogy, which has been dubbed 'mummy porn', details the sadomasochistic affair between wealthy entrepreneur Christian Grey and literature student Anastasia Steele.
The former Sex and the City star, who is currently starring as Cleopatra in the play Anthony and Cleopatra at the Chichester Festival Centre, also opens up about her love life in the interview.
Kim has been married three times, with her union to third husband, audio designer Mark Levinson, ending in 2004.
She went on to date chef Alan Wyse, who is 22-years her junior, and is rumoured to be currently enjoying a romance with wealthy artist Clifford Ross, 60, however she doubts she’ll walk down the aisle again.
'Who knows? I think a lot of the reasons for doing that are to make a stable environment in which to have children, and I don’t think that’s really an option for me,’ she says.
However the star says she has no regrets about not having children and is able to fulfill her maternal instincts through the people around her.
‘There are many ways to be a mother,’ she adds. ‘I have a lot of young actors I mentor, and my nieces and my nephews need a lot of love.
‘I like my life. It’s good.’
