Football legend David Beckham and Hollywood star Ray Winstone met
injured troops during a private visit to a military ward yesterday..
They cheered up wounded forces heroes on the military ward at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham over an hour and a half.
During
their trip the pair talked with servicemen about what they had been
through and Beckham posed for photos at their bedside.
A military source said: “Both stars were made very welcome during their trip and it was extremely well-received.
"Nevertheless it is always an amazing experience to witness just how brave these patients are.
“Throughout
the visit it was clear that both David and Ray knew that the real stars
of the day were the military people who have sacrificed so much.”
Shortly after they moved on to a meeting with staff from the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, who specialise in treatment for military personnel.
They also visited the Teenage Cancer Trust’s Young Persons’ Unit.
Both stars have long been popular with the military. Beckham has visited British soldiers in Helmand Province and been shown around the UK’s main base Camp Bastion.
