X Factor Australia Winner Dami Im replaces One Direction No. 1 on Charts




X Factor Australia winner Dami Im has received support from fans in Asia and around the world after being the target of racist comments on social media.

Dami was born in South Korea and moved to Australia with her family at the age of eight.
She beat finalists Taylor Henderson and Jai Waetford to be crowned the winner of the popular reality TV talent show on Monday.

She was mentored to the X Factor title by Australian singer Dannii Minogue, but had earlier expressed doubts she could "make it as a singer" because of her shyness.

In less then 24-hours Im's song is already number one on iTunes, further silencing her critics.
 Dami has signed a contract with Sony Music Australia, and is expected to release her self-titled debut album on November 22.
"It will have the best songs from the (X Factor) live shows," she said.
Her winning single "Alive" currently sits at number one on the iTunes chart in Australia.

As part of the win, Im is guaranteed a lucrative recording contract with Sony Music and a management deal.
Channel 7 and Sony have been contacted for comment.
