As you saw in the previews launched by both Miley and her special Unplugged guest Madonna, Madonna dressed for the occasion with her own Nashville-ready ensemble, reprising the cowboy styling from her original "Don't Tell Me" music video and adding a boatload more details: fringe, gold, studs, and sparkly flourishes. (She took her grill off for the performance.)

WATCH: Miley Cyrus Full MTV Unplugged
Miley Cyrus' MTV Unplugged session was characteristically Miley. The
show, an early-'90s standby, has come around less and less often lately —
do you remember Thirty Seconds to Mars' legendary MTV.com Unplugged
special three years ago? No? — but Cyrus is better without studio
productions than her detractors might expect, as she has shown in
acoustic videos over the years of songs like her godmother Dolly
Parton's classic "Jolene." Cyrus performed that one last night, and she
belted out an emotional version of her Bangerz standout love ballad
"Adore You," explaining it was one of the first tracks she did for the
album.
