Daft Punk - Computerized (Feat. Jay Z)
A song purporting to be a collaboration between Daft Punk and Jay Z has surfaced, but as is often the case with things that seem too-good-to-be-true, there’s something slightly off about ‘Computerized’.
The song is a warning tale about relying too much on technology, which is rather ironic considering Daft Punk is an electronic-esque duo comprised of two robots. “Everyone will be computerized,” says the robotic chorus.
Jay Z, always the voice of reason for our generation, eschews technology’s role, complaining about holding conversations over text messages and having a “broken heart on the email” and “an iTouch but I can’t feel.” And later, he raps, “Somebody tell me what’s real/ I don’t know how I feel.”
The intro uses a sample later used on the soundtrack from 2010 film Tron: Legacy, but it is unclear when ’Computerized’ was officially recorded. News sources suggest it’s a demo, but that is also unclear.
What is clear is the message: that we should be more independent of technology…except for the kind that allows us to listen to this bumpin’ song. The Song is real.
