Above all else, Brad Pitt thinks about six little people before choosing a movie role. At The Tree Of Life premiere in Cannes, Pitt told People, “I think of everything I do now that my kids are going to see when they grow up and how are they going to feel. But they know me as a dad and I hope they’ll just think of me as a pretty damn good actor.”
Life was a particularly compelling project Pitt wanted to attach himself to. According to Popeater, the Missouri-born actor felt a certain connection to director Terrence Malick‘s film: “I got brought up being told things were God’s way, and when things didn’t work out it was called God’s plan. I’ve got my issues with it. Don’t get me started. I found it very stifling.”
The film, co-starring Sean Penn, will get a limited release in the US May 27th. Malick, who’s known to be a bit of a recluse, didn’t attend the premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Pitt defended the director’s decision to fly below the radar: “It’s an odd thing for an artist to sculpt [something] and then try to sell it.” Rumor has it that the some people boo’d the movie at the festival.
Pitt brought along girlfriend Angelina Jolie to the premiere today. Among those also in attendance Gwen Stefani, Gavin Rossdale, Rob Lowe, Jude Law, Mia Wasikowska, and Zoe Saldana
