After a weekend of events including the Trooping of the Colour and a friend’s wedding it seems Princes William and Harry were only too happy to let off some steam.
The competitive siblings went head to head on the polo field yesterday afternoon, during the Royal Salute-sponsored charity match at the exclusive Coworth Park in Berkshire.
Despite the strong wind and torrential rain, a 300-strong crowd turned out to watch the Princes battle it out, all in aid of Prince Harry’s African charity Sentebale. And despite the single Prince Harry putting up a fight, the Duke of Cambridge’s team managed to clinch the title, and money to be donated his choice of charity, Tusk.
During his post-dinner speech, Harry spoke about the charity and recalled a “young herd boy called Tholo” that he and his brother met in Lesotho.
“He was seven-years-old. He had walked on his own through the cold and darkness for five miles,” Harry said. “Why did he do it? Because he wanted to learn how to read and write. You see, he wants to become a doctor so that – in his own words – he can help his people.”
