Mark Sanchez Covers GQ September 2011
With the NFL season getting underway, Mark Sanchez was selected to grace the cover of the September 2011 issue of GQ magazine.
Set to hit newsstands nationwide August 23rd, the New York Jets quarterback chatted with the publication about his love for Broadway, being a 24-year-old bachelor who has “the means to do anything... But with the wherewithal and understanding and life skills of a 45-year-old Supreme Court judge,” Rex Ryan’s “honesty” with the media, and whether or not he can take his team all the way: “It’s coming,” he says.

On Rex Ryan, after his coach told reporters he might bench Sanchez following a loss to Miami:
“Rex is super honest...I wish he wasn’t that honest at times, especially to say that. I wanted to fight him. I was really mad.”
On when Brian Schottenheimer informed him that Ryan wanted to give extra reps to backup QB Mark Brunell:
“I was like, ‘He can come tell me. And [Schottenheimer] is like, ‘Come on, man, don’t do that.’ ”
On feeling a kinship with Broadway performers:
"Their life is so regimented—like mine. They have eight shows a week. They have to take care of their bodies, stretch, eat right, take care of their voices. You know, their voice is like my arm."
